INTERVIEW

I have Mrs S. Persich, a resident of aldeby for 20 years with me to answer a few questions.

Q1. If you had the chance to move away would you and why?

No, ive lived here with my family for quite a few years and everybody is happy and setttled at the moment, maybe we'll move away in the future but we'll wait and see what happens.

Q2.Since you have been here what do you think has been done to the villages advantage?

The roads have been improved and there hasnt been very many new buildings in the village so it's stayed fairly quiet.

Q3. What do you feel has been done to to the villages disadvantage?

The disadvantages to the village are the closure of the shops and the local pub also the closure of the railway line so we have to rely more and more on our cars to get anywhere to do our main shopping.

Q4. What do you think the future will hold for Aldeby?

I think future of Aldeby will be that the young will continue to migrate to the cities to look for work and cheaper housing also the house prises in this area will continue to rise steeply. More affluent people from outside the local enviroment will move into the village.

This is one persons opinion of Aldeby, but the fact is no one knows whats going to happen to Aldeby whether it remains a village in decline or new housing is built.

This is a Tom Persich report for the Aldeby Village Enquiry
