Asiyou can see the population of Aldeby has gone down ever since the end of the Second World War. Until very recently, where there was a new block of houses built and the population rose again. The fact though is that Aldeby's population will still decline and this new block of houses was just a lucky boost. Aldeby's population drop has also caused quite a lot of economical changes such as the closure of nearly all of Aldeby's trade i.e. the apple factory. Which was Aldeby's main centre of employment but also the local village shop and the pub and now there is only a post office in Aldeby and it does not provide much that you need for life, so a four mile trip to Beccles is required to get a loaf of bread or some milk etc. All of these changes made even more people move out because they had lost there jobs so they had to find work a lot further away, and in some cases people could just not afford to keep driving to Beccles or Norwich when they need to buy something. Also recently a lot of people have moved out because they felt that the village was just did not host enough social life for them. But there is another reason why the population has gone down and that is because familys are not as big as they used to be because they do not have control over the size of the family that they had unlike today. So overall Aldeby has had a lot of change population wise and it was mainly for the worst . I think the future may be better for Aldeby, because the has been talk of a new housing estate going up but if this does not got through i think that Aldeby will still remain a vilage in decline, and the one remaining post office will close down.
